A Difficult Decision

Posted October 28, 2022 by Marsha in Discussion Post / 0 Comments

I hate tough choices, I’m damned if I do – and damned if I don’t kind of choices.

I’ve decided to combine this website Paranormal-y Romantic with my larger Keeper Bookshelf website… for several reasons.  I ‘could’ mix these Paranormal Romance stories and reviews into my Shifter Haven site, but I want to keep that unique with only Shifter Romance.  And my (mostly Contemporary Romance Harlequin-styled) Happily Ever After Romance website just doesn’t fit this genre at all so that stays separate.

Between health reasons, increased home-life responsibilities, and a reduction in reading time… I honestly cannot do for Paranormal-y Romantic what I need to, which is spend more time (that I don’t have) promoting it, and reading books for it.

It’s not an easy decision, but the logical choice for now.

If you love Paranormal Romance, Paranormal Women’s Fiction, or even Paranormal Cozy Mysteries then you’ll now find those reviews here at  Keeper Bookshelf (KeeperBookshelf.com) – @keeperbookshelf on Twitter.

If you’re a lover of those shifting, furry, sexy couples then perhaps Shifter Haven (ShifterHaven.com) – @ShifterHaven on Twitter might be something to check out.

And finally, if you love a good Contemporary (an occasional Historical) Romance then Happily Ever After Romance (HappilyEverAfterRomance.com) – @HEA_Romanceblog on Twitter might be something you’d enjoy.

Thank you to all past visitors to my site/blog or Twitter followers, you are all amazing.  I know people cannot actually see a heavy heart, but I’m certainly feeling one with this decision.

Pre-Ordered ~ Hallows End by Kristen Proby

Posted October 1, 2022 by Marsha in Paranormal Romance, Pre-Ordered Title / 0 Comments

October is the month when I read more than my usual amount of Paranormal Romance, Paranormal Cozy Mysteries, PWF, or, well, you get the idea – if it’s a paranormal it’s going to be on my October reading list.  So when I got the Bookbub announcement about this almost here release, of course, I checked it out.  And, honestly, it sounds delicious… Check it out and see why this one grabbed my imagination.

Returning to her beloved home of Salem after a trip away, Lucy Finch can’t shake the feeling of anxiety that suddenly plagues her. Nor can she shrug off her third eye’s urging that she has a mission she must undertake—a secret she must uncover.

As a green witch, Lucy has always felt strongest and the most at home in the forest, surrounded by nature. But when a disturbing dream wakes her and sends her fleeing into the woods, she isn’t prepared for what she finds. She expected her element. Perhaps a message from spirit. She didn’t expect to cross paths with a sexy-as-sin man, straight out of a movie scene.

Jonas Morley isn’t like the other residents of Hallows End. He knows the town’s secrets, as well as Salem’s, and it has been his honor and duty to protect them for as long as he can remember. But the gorgeous witch who graces the town’s hidden border shakes him and makes him second-guess his directive. She calls to him like no other. But can he save his home and those under his care and still make her his? Or will their union mean danger and destruction for not only them but also those who live within the town’s borders?

Curses don’t discriminate, and the curse of the blood moon is the most determined and dangerous of all.

Hallows End is the first book in the Curse of the Blood Moon Series.

Yeah.  That sounds too good to pass up.

A Vampire’s Midlife Crisis by Valerie Twombly

Posted September 24, 2022 by Marsha in ARC, Paranormal Romance, Paranormal Women's Fiction, Series / 0 Comments

Her life wasn’t all bad until she woke up a vampire.

Sabrina raised a daughter, started her own coffee shop, and bought her dream house in her hometown of New Orleans. If she had to complain about anything, it would be the seventh level of Hell hot flashes that come with being 53 years old. That is until she wakes up as a vampire.

Her body has never been more perky and her hair is a dream. Problems? Several. A vampire shouldn’t have hot flashes, mood swings that rival a rollercoaster ride, and the urge to drop into a dead sleep at 9:00 pm.

There is a God and he goes by the name of Christoph, the king of the New Orleans coven and a vampire who is hotter than her night sweats. Ready to jump his ancient bones, she manages self-control. Barely. When she learns he can cure more than her animalistic urges, she will promise anything.

Enter the misfits. A succubus kicked out of Hell, an old as dirt reaper, a purple dragon whose hiccups light eyebrows on fire, and a cute as can be pooch that’s really a Hellhound. All occupants of the B&B, Fangri-La, and Sabrina’s job is to turn Christoph’s new acquisition into a thriving business. Holy hot flashes, she may have sunk her fangs into more than she can handle.

A Cagey CATastrophe by M.L. Bonatch

A confused new witch and a familiar with more attitude than aptitude!

I’d barely accepted I was half magic-blood when my sister-from-another-mister showed up in a tacky van and dumped me in the witchness protection program.

Now I’m stuck in a house with an arrogant warlock and an ancient gossip-loving witch in a neighborhood with more secrets than stray cats. I shouldn’t be here, for mortal’s sake, I’m 30 years old!

Soon after arriving, I wake up as a cat and discover the chatter in my head since moving here has been the local cat population talking. Is this what’s made me so interesting to all the wrong people? I’m a witch who can shift? Maybe I need witchness protection after all.

When someone with dark magic starts luring wayward teens away from the area, it leaves me questioning how good this protection program really is. But before I can learn how to stop blowing things up with my magic or turning into Abby the tabby, another teen witch goes missing.

This time, I fear that she was taken to get to me, so it’s up to me and my fat tomcat familiar to save her. If I can’t, the darkness won’t stop at me. It will come for us all.

Bewitched Beginnings by Mara Webb

Broken hearts and fresh starts. The winds of change are about to sweep me off my feet…

The good thing about rock bottom is that things can’t get any worse. After walking in on my husband in flagrante with a young nurse I’d been mentoring, I packed my bags and got out of there. I wish I could say I boarded a plane to start again somewhere tropical, but when you get to my age you tend to have too many things anchoring you to one spot.

My ‘new life’ was going to take place roughly two miles away from my old one. Forty, financially unstable, and fumbling my way into a new career courtesy of the run-down motel my grandmother left me in her will.

Then fate intervenes.

A body in the motel pool, a town full of people pointing fingers at me, and my only alibi? A ghost that keeps telling me that I’ve come of age, whatever that means. Who’s going to believe me though?

I’ve heard people say ‘life begins at forty’, but if I don’t want that to be a life sentence for murder, then I better figure out what happened on Saturday night. A dusty old box of books in my attic might hold some answers…

I’m going to have to save myself because no one else is going to do it for me. Life has changed, and now when adventure calls, I answer. Age is just a number, after all.
