I have a love affair going on with one particular series, Maggie Shayne’s Wings in the Night. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve reread this series, or back in the day, waited impatiently for the next new release. I truly believe that it was this series of sexy, alpha-strong vampires and their Chosen mates that set Paranormal Romance as a genre of Romance that I would never, ever outgrow.
Sure the guys were hot, sexy, and annoyingly alpha in their attitudes toward women. Now, granted these men (and some women) came from a much older time, had lived in a far different society than what we call modern-day… and their attitudes carried through with them during the long, long lives they’ve lived.
If you receive Maggie Shayne’s newsletter, then you’ll know that she has won the entire series back from Harper Collins/Harlequin/Sillhoutte/Mira – and legally, and in my opinion, rightfully they all are back with their creator. They’ll be getting the royal treatment, and will soon be back on the shelves. I’m excited for her that her book babies are now home for good. Although I’m not a writer but a reader, I still understand how important this decision is.
This is one of those times when I wish I could erase all memory of a book and read it again for the first time, but since I have these in print and e-book well, I’m just going to set up a time to binge-read the entire series (and connections) soon. If you haven’t read anything by Maggie Shayne yet, then here’s the link to her website. Since she writes in several genres I’m betting you’ll find something to enjoy. Maggie Shayne website.
