When it comes to dating, Marion Matched has seen it all. She’s the witch people call when they’re fed up with unsolicited d*ck pics on their dating apps, being ghosted, or asked to do questionable things with their date’s feet. She has the unique ability to just know when two people are perfect for each other. There’s only ever been one person she hasn’t been able to match—herself. And that’s fine with her. She’s never wanted to settle down anyway. Or at least that’s what she tells herself when she runs into her recently divorced high school sweetheart in her new town of Premonition Pointe.
Marion doesn’t have time to worry about her own dating life, anyway. She has a new business to set up, a reputation to prove, and an annoying ghost to shake. But when Marion hires a social media influencer to document her dating experiences with the agency, a vicious curse turns every date into a nightmare. Sabotaged and in danger of losing her new business, Marion will need the help of her newly acquired ghost, the Premonition Pointe coven, and the man who keeps asking her out to save her dating agency… and just maybe make a love connection she never thought she’d find.

Title: Star-Crossed Witch
Series: Miss Matched Midlife Dating Agency #1
Author: Deanna Chase
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Paranormal Women’s Fiction
Released: July 7, 2022
My Rating: 4.5 stars
I had such a blast with Star-Crossed Witch that I haven’t stopped smiling since I finished the final page. Marion’s story is the start of the Miss Matched Midlife Dating Agency series, which in turn, is a spin-off of the Premonition Pointe series (part of the original Fab 13 releases) that kicked off the PWF, Paranormal Women’s Fiction genre. I mention this because we’ll run into some familiar faces from the Premonition Pointe series in this first book. It gives you an idea of what you’re diving into if you’ve already read that first series… or something to go back and pick up now.
While most of what you’d want to know about Star-Crossed Witch can be found in the Cover Description, what you won’t find there are the emotions, the laughter, the anger, and the connections all of these characters have with each other… well, except for the villain, and there is a vile villain to be dealt with. I could easily envision each scene as it played out and when I wasn’t laughing I was seething at the actions of a nasty piece of work. I loved not only Marion but Jax as well, something about second chances always draws me in until the happy ending can be found. I adored our resident matchmaking, mischief-filled ghost who only wants her own match to be found somehow in the afterlife. And new, as well, as familiar faces to round out a cast of enjoyable, relatable characters for this kind of cozy mystery in the PWF world.
There is laughter and there is danger in this story, some steamy moments, and lots of tension-filled ones as well. I admit that I gave the actual culprit only a moment’s consideration, so the hide it in plain sight factor was there as well. I had fun, and to me, that is one of the most important parts… if you create a world that I cannot wait to visit again, then you’ve got me hooked on a series. And I am definitely in need of knowing more about the Miss Matched Midlife Dating Agency world. If that’s what draws you into a story, then Star-Crossed Witch is a perfect match for you.
