Silver Spells begins the Midlife Elementals series with a charming story of life’s unexpected changes – and perhaps a touch of romance in an uncertain future.

I liked the story of Luella and her friends, all facing some new challenges at this stage in life – most were completely unexpected.  Add a love from the past, unexplainable magical happenings, and a puzzling mystery and you have a story that drew me in and kept me entertained.

The element of surprise really did come toward the end of Silver Spells – and I’m still puzzling out parts of the ending.  I think I really need to dive into the next story to get all the answers but that’s alright.  Like most first books in a series, Luella’s story laid the groundwork to build on and I’m content to wait for the next pieces of the puzzle to fall into place.  I enjoyed myself here and will definitely be back for more.
