I happen to love a kick butt, take names kind of heroine and Darby is all that and a whole lot more in Dead to Me, the opening story in the Grave Talker series.

I also love a book that when writing up the review I find that I really cannot say a lot about without giving away spoilers.  Now, I enjoy talking about books, storylines, characters – but there are books when it’s best to simply keep those opinions to myself and let you discover what a unique world you’ll enter into upon opening these pages.

What I feel I can say is that Darby has the unusual ability to be able to speak to ghosts, to sense the dead… which comes in handy (at times) when you’re a homicide cop.  When a bully that she and her partner “J” went to school with is murdered with Darby’s business card on them the race is on to figure out who did it… and who or what exactly is Bishop La Roux?  He may be hot and sexy, and he may have activated Darby’s interest but Bishop is far more than the surface shows, and discovering his secrets was part of my enjoyment while reading Dead to Me.  I adored the best friend relationship that Darby and “J” have, it’s worked for them for years and their natural trust in each other is clear to see.

I was easily caught up in this one, and will definitely be following this series.   Expect twists, turns, and surprises – get ready for a wild ride with Dead to Me.
