Cloudy With A Chance of Witchcraft by Mandy M. Roth

When it rains, it pours…

On the eve of my fortieth birthday, Fate has given me a second chance at the happiness I once knew in the odd Southern town of Grimm Cove. But only if I can come to terms with some rather eye-opening revelations. Supernaturals are a real thing. I’m a witch. My high school sweetheart, who happens to be the Chief of Police in Grimm Cove, is my fated mate and a wolf-shifter. Ghosts exist and can be very nosy and meddlesome. Someone is murdering witches left and right. And last but not least, my ex-husband’s barely legal arm candy is taking fatal attraction to new levels of Hell.

I’m no shrinking violet, and with the help of my best friends, I’m going to live life on my terms–come Hell, high water, or magikal mishaps.

My Rating:  4.5 stars

Cloudy with a Chance of Witchcraft has everything that I crave in a Paranormal, and then just a bit more.  Shifters (which for someone with a blog devoted to only shifters plus being addicted to Shifter Romance was a special treat), magic, ghosts, a mystery, and a vile villain worthy of being loathed.  So, yeah, all the necessary boxes checked with this beginning story of the Grimm Cove series.  Oh, and add to the enjoyment level are friends who completely rock friendship to the core.  Add to that these ladies are rockin’ their mid-lives just fine only drew me into this one deeper.  (Not all adventures or sexy love lives stop at 20, and it was a delight to see women with life’s experiences taking center stage and nailing it.)

Poppy is returning home to a place that she left in heartbreak vowing never to return, even though her beloved grandparents still called Grimm Cove home up until their deaths.  She moved on, thought she’d found love and a life that fit – she was wrong, unfortunately.  Oh, her kids were her life and she’d never regret them but the cheating husband with a major “want her don’t want anyone else to have her even though I’ve taken up with a woman near my daughter’s age” attitude.  In truth, she’s better off without the ex, but that’s hard to admit when she’s uprooting her life, returning home, and having to face the man who broke her heart.  But she’s got her tribe, her best friends making this major move with her and they are going to retake life on their own terms.

This is the start of a series that I will be anxiously awaiting release days for, Cloudy with a Chance of Witchcraft drew me in, held me spellbound on so many levels that didn’t surprise me but certainly made the Grimm Cove series a must for my reading future.  The writing flows easily drawing you into this world full of danger, laughter, tears, sass, and some super sexy beings you’ll hope with all your reading heart do find their forever love.  I had a blast and would not hesitate to recommend this story/series to any reader who enjoys Paranormal, Mystery, Magic, and solid friendships – it’s just a damned good story and I’m so waiting for the next in series to arrive.  Go.  Check it out, right now.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.  At the time you read this review, Cloudy with a Chance of Witchcraft may no longer be in KU for it was there for a short time before releasing to all e-reader platforms.

**This review first appeared on my Keeper Bookshelf blog, but with all things Paranormal I’m slowly moving some here to keep the reviews featuring that genre together.**
