Over the Faery Hill begins the Magical Midlife Misadventures series with a fascinating concept – if you could change one event in your life, would you and could you handle the changes that would result by altering the timeline of not only yourself but others in your life as well.

I think we’ve all wanted a “do-over”, sometimes just wishful thinking other times an almost desperate longing.  Joey falls into the second category.  She is convinced that one event prevented her from going to the Olympics and by not fulfilling that dream her life has been one curse of bad luck every day since that one fateful day.  She’s about to get her wish… and will discover that it’s not all she thought it would be, it’s far, far more complicated and complex than she could have ever imagined.

Joey is about to meet Robin Goodfellow.  A fae prince, a trickster, and the answer to her desperate wish – or is he?  Robin has an agenda of his own (all tricksters do) and as Joey gets what she believed she wanted lives will be changed… even Robin’s.

Over the Faery Hill is full of laugh-out-loud moments, deep life-long friendship, zany family members, and magic.  It won’t take long before you’re wrapped up in the quest for Joey’s wish to come true and the chaos that results.  I had such fun with this story – and some thoughtful moments as well because, well, the ‘grass is always greener on the other side of the fence’ way of thinking isn’t always the truth.

Joey learns some harsh life lessons along the way, lessons she’ll put to good use… until the day Robin returns — and then who knows what will happen.  We’ll have to wait until January 2021 to find out.  This is a complete story, yet there is an indication that all is not done yet and will be picked up at this point (or near) in the next story of the series.  Not a true cliffhanger, but you know more is to come.

If you love a heartfelt story with some laughter and some tears, interesting characters, and some thoughtful moments then you should be picking up Over the Faery Hill right now and get started on this magical adventure.
